“We've Optimized Every Aspect Of The Rescue Experience For Dogs And Prospective Owners. We Started With A Vision Of The Perfect Rescue Campus. Then We Began Building It.”
— Lauree Simmons, FounderCampus Amenities
Big Dog Ranch Rescue is a 33-acre property evolving as the nation’s premiere cage-free rescue facility.
The campus and our programs are designed to encourage active, high-touch engagement with humans and
other dogs. Our campus plays a pivotal role in successful adoption transitions. The Big Dog Ranch
Rescue environment teaches dogs how to thrive in homes.
Healthy is Happy
A healthy dog is a happy dog - and a happy dog is a welcome pet.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue guests begin their stays with comprehensive medical and dental evaluations, followed by appropriate treatment and therapy. We have world-class veterinarians, caregivers, and staff State-of-the-Art Intake/Quarantine Facilities where potentially sick dogs are quarantined to eliminate any chance of cross-contamination with healthy dogs. They receive basic wellness care and vaccinations and are prepared for spay/neuter/microchip before moving to one of 90 12x12 cage-free bunk rooms. Gold-standard Veterinary Healing Center provides routine and life-saving services to injured and ill dogs.
At Big Dog Ranch Rescue, we spay/neuter, vaccinate, microchip, groom, and treat any medical conditions necessary to ensure the health and well-being of each dog. We also provide specialty surgery when needed.
A Loving Home
Once medically cleared for adoption, our happy, healthy dogs continue preparation for their forever families.
They enjoy a homelike environment in one of our 12x12 climate-controlled cage-free bunk rooms that open to a half-acre, synthetic turf play yard. Dogs are placed in play groups with other dogs of similar temperaments to play, exercise, and receive one-on-one training as needed. Shade trees, sprinklers, toys, and lots of synthetic turf and pools add up to fun, clean, mentally stimulating environments.
When the time comes for dogs to interact with potential owners, they do so in our Meet and Greet Pavilion. In this authentic backyard setting, dogs exhibit their natural tendencies and personalities. The pavilion gives potential owners a chance to introduce dogs they may already have to the dogs they are considering adopting.
The Campus Journey
Phase 1
In 2018, we completed the first phase of the new campus. This was the start of a revolution in how dogs are saved. Our bunkrooms are climate-controlled and cage-free to humanely care for every dog.
Big and small, young and old, healthy or sick, our campus provides state of the art care and gives each dog a home environment that heals body and soul. The minute a dog enters Big Dog Ranch Rescue, they begin that healing process.
Each dog that comes through our doors receives a full medical exam, is spayed/neutered, and microchipped. All of our healthy rescues play and train in one of our half-acre play yards. Every part of Big Dog Ranch Rescue contributes to our dogs’ recovery.
Phase 2
We will provide a multitude of pet care services needed in our community. Sustainability will be enhanced through boarding, on-campus store, and medical services. We will provide the finest daily and long-term boarding for those who have adopted a Big Dog Ranch rescue.
Medical services will also be expanded and available to our adopters for lifelong care of their dog. A new campus store will provide accessories for both care and enjoyment, while providing much needed revenue.
Phase 3
Our goal is to educate and inform the community about all aspects of rescuing dogs. From the importance of spaying/neutering, to the cruelty of puppy mills and kill shelters, to proper dog care, we want to engage with our community.
We also strongly support our Veterans who fight to protect our freedom. We will have a dedicated program to train and unite service dogs with members of our military suffering from PTSD.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue plans to open a Senior Sanctuary on our campus. Here, Big Dog Ranch Rescue dogs who have lost their owners will be given a second home at our Senior Sanctuary and we will pair them with Seniors looking to share their love. We will ensure that no dog is left alone or forgotten when their owner passes away.
